Tesla has released an impressive fly-through video filmed at its Giga Berlin plant in Germany. This three-and-a-half-minute video provides a comprehensive look at the massive factory, which has been producing Tesla Model Y vehicles and battery cells since it officially opened two years ago.
The video showcases the advanced technology used by Tesla, along with a considerable number of human workers, in the production of the Model Y crossover SUV. You can see various stages of the production process, including casting, stamping, plastic molding, painting, and assembly. The footage shows how the Model Y gradually comes together, with the finished product gleaming at the end.
There are some particularly cool drone shots, especially around the 1:08 mark, where the drone skillfully navigates tight spaces among robots and several Model Y vehicles on the busy production line.
This video was released just days after the Tesla factory resumed operations following an almost week-long power outage. The outage was due to a suspected arson attack on a nearby electrical substation, possibly linked to environmental protests against Tesla’s expansion plans. Earlier this week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk visited the site to check on the manufacturing plant and support the workers.
Giga Berlin, which reportedly cost around $5 billion to build, is Tesla’s first manufacturing facility in Europe. The company describes it as its “most advanced, sustainable, and efficient facility yet.”
