It’s been a long time coming, but Tesla is finally about to deliver the first Cybertrucks to customers. The unique-looking electric pickup, which was unveiled back in 2019, will be handed over to the initial owners at a special event at Tesla’s Cybertruck Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, November 30.
Since the vehicle isn’t going into mass production for a few more years, only a small number of Cybertrucks will be distributed at this event. Recent reports suggest that as few as 10 could be delivered to the first lucky owners.
To build up excitement for the launch, Tesla has been showcasing the Cybertruck in various locations across the U.S., including New York City and San Diego. The company has reportedly taken around 2 million preorders for the Cybertruck, with customers only needing to put down a refundable $100 deposit to secure their spot in line.
There are still some details about the Cybertruck that remain unknown, such as its final cost. Initially, Tesla announced that three different versions of the pickup would be priced between $39,000 and $69,000. However, in October 2021, they removed the pricing details from their website, leading many to expect that the final prices will be higher than originally stated.
The highly anticipated delivery event at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, will start at 2 p.m. CT (3 p.m. ET and noon PT) on Thursday, November 30. Tesla will live-stream the event on its website and social media platforms.
If Tesla’s past delivery events are any indication, this should be a glitzy occasion with Elon Musk at the forefront, leading the proceedings. Musk is expected to speak before handing over the first Cybertrucks to customers, some of whom have been waiting up to four years for this moment.
