Lamborghini Prepares to Debut Its Inaugural Fully Electric Supercar This Friday

Lamborghini is set to reveal a concept of its first fully electric supercar at Monterey Car Week in California this Friday. Earlier this week, the Italian automaker released a teaser image showing a sleek silhouette of the vehicle, promising something “new and truly thrilling” for car enthusiasts.

However, don’t expect to see this fully electric car on the road anytime soon. Lamborghini has announced that production will start “by the end of the decade,” with 2028 being the most likely date.

Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini’s head of design, mentioned that their first fully electric supercar will fully embody Lamborghini’s design DNA. He reassured fans that it won’t negatively impact their other model lines.

Lamborghini is gradually moving towards electric vehicles. By 2024, they plan to introduce gas-electric hybrid versions of their lineup before unveiling their first fully electric supercar. Everyone is eager to see what Lamborghini has in store, not just in terms of design, but also the technology that will ensure the high performance expected from their supercars.

This electric car reveal follows the launch of the Revuelto plug-in hybrid, which replaces the Aventador supercar. In an April interview, Lamborghini’s chief technology officer Rouven Mohr highlighted the changing social environment, stricter emissions regulations, and the possibility of some cities in Europe limiting road access to non-electrified cars. Mohr also pointed out that advancements in battery technology have enabled Lamborghini to focus more on developing both hybrid and fully electric vehicles.
