Experiencing Tesla's Cybertruck Delivery Event: Catch Up on What You Missed

Four years after its initial reveal, Tesla has finally started delivering the first Cybertruck pickups to customers. The grand event, led by Tesla’s chief, Elon Musk, took place on Thursday at the company’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.

Tesla live-streamed the event, making it accessible to a wider audience. Although the video lasts for 50 minutes, the actual presentation starts 25 minutes in, so you can skip ahead to that point. The event begins with a promotional video showcasing the Cybertruck handling various challenging terrains.

Elon Musk then took the stage to introduce the Cybertruck, calling it “our best product” and emphasizing that “finally, the future will look like the future.” One of the event’s highlights was a rerun of the stress test where, during the 2019 unveiling, a steel ball thrown at the vehicle’s window cracked the glass. This time, the demonstration went off without a hitch, possibly using a different material for the ball.

To further demonstrate the Cybertruck’s durability, there was footage of a bullet test, proving the vehicle’s toughness. Musk also spoke about the Cybertruck’s practical abilities, such as its towing capacity, and discussed its advanced steer-by-wire technology.

One exciting part of the event was seeing the top-end tri-motor version of the Cybertruck, capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds, race against a Porsche 911. It was an unconventional but thrilling contest.

The event concluded with the first buyers getting into their new Cybertrucks, sharing handshakes and smiles. “This is really going to change the look of the roads,” Musk remarked as the new owners drove off.
