A Couple Achieves Astonishing Feat with Electric Vehicle

A couple from Scotland has achieved an incredible first by driving an electric vehicle (EV) from pole to pole. Chris and Julie Ramsey embarked on their 18,000-mile journey 10 months ago, traveling through 17 countries in North and South America before finally reaching the South Pole.

To tackle the challenging terrain, their Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE EV was equipped with larger tires. They faced torrential rain, strong winds, and extreme temperatures, testing both the vehicle and themselves to the limit.

This monumental trip was designed to push an EV to its boundaries, promote the adoption of EVs, and show how they can help reduce our carbon footprint.

Upon reaching their goal, Chris expressed his amazement, acknowledging how much tougher the journey was than he had expected, despite his confidence in the EV. Julie reflected on the incredible journey, highlighting the people they met and the support they received along the way.

The couple kept their vehicle charged using regular charging points when available. In the absence of such facilities, they used a 5kW wind turbine or portable solar panels to power up.

This isn’t the first time the Ramseys have taken on a challenging drive in an EV. In 2017, they were the first to complete the 10,500-mile Mongol Rally in an EV, using their Nissan Leaf. That experience inspired them to take on the Pole-to-Pole challenge, recognizing its potential to spark interest in EVs.

The couple plans to take a break over Christmas before deciding their next adventure, which is sure to involve an electric car.
