Anticipated Details for the 2025 Buick Electra: Pricing, Launch Timeline, Mileage, and Additional Insights

Buick is reviving the Electra name, but this time around, it’s going electric. The new Electra will be Buick’s first electric vehicle, kicking off with the 2025 Electra E5 SUV. This vehicle will run on General Motors’ Ultium platform, promising a long driving range without a hefty price tag compared to other electric cars.

There are many details about the Buick Electra that have yet to be revealed, including its price. Although Buick hasn’t provided cost information, it’s anticipated that the 2025 Electra E5 will start around $50,000, with prices varying based on the model and added features.

The release date of the Electra is more defined than its price, though specifics are still under wraps. The car is slated to launch in late 2024 as a 2025 model, but the exact month isn’t confirmed.

We don’t yet know the specific models and colors available for the Electra, but we can make educated guesses based on Buick’s current options. It’s likely that the Electra E5 will come in trims like “Preferred,” “Essence,” and “Avenir,” which vary in price and features. As for colors, Buick has shown a light metallic blue concept image, but the final color options remain unknown.

Details regarding the Electra E5’s charging speed and range are still sparse, but we can infer some information from the General Motors Ultium platform it’s built on, the same platform used by the Cadillac Lyriq. The Lyriq offers up to 312 miles of range and can charge at up to 190kW, gaining 76 miles of range in about 10 minutes. We expect the Electra to have similar performance.

Performance specifics for the Electra haven’t been disclosed yet either. However, considering it’s based on the Ultium platform, it might offer performance close to the Cadillac Lyriq. The rear-wheel-drive Lyriq can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.7 seconds, while the all-wheel-drive version does it in 4.6 seconds. The Electra could offer similar acceleration, but this remains to be confirmed.

Buick has given a sneak peek of the Electra’s interior, showcasing a spacious cabin with a large 30-inch display running across the dashboard. This display will likely support Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot. Other features will probably be revealed as the release date approaches.

The manufacturing location for the Electra is still a mystery. Buick will produce a version for the Chinese market in China, but it’s unclear whether the North American model will be made locally or imported. If it’s imported, it probably won’t qualify for the federal EV tax credit.

We hope the price of the Buick Electra E5 will be lower than the expected $50,000, given the increasing number of competitors offering affordable electric vehicles. Ideally, the base model will achieve close to a 300-mile range, with higher-end versions providing even more.

Our wishlist for the Electra includes a spacious and sporty interior, typical of an SUV. Stay tuned for more updates as we learn more about what the Buick Electra has to offer.
