A Comprehensive Insight into Lamborghini Telemetry X: Monitoring Driving Performance and Stress Levels

If you have a fast car, the racetrack is the only place where you can really let it loose. But just buying a fast car doesn’t mean you automatically have the driving skills to make the most out of it. That’s why you might need some coaching to improve. At CES 2024, Lamborghini introduced a high-tech driver coaching system that uses vehicle data to enhance driving skills. This system, called Telemetry X, is currently just a prototype but could be included in future Lamborghini supercars.

Telemetry X aims to turn driving into a truly immersive experience. Lamborghini’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, mentioned that this system is a glimpse into the future of connected services that their customers can look forward to.

Data-gathering systems are essential for making racing drivers and their cars faster, and some simpler versions of these systems have already made their way into everyday road cars. For example, General Motors has a Performance Data Recorder that captures data like lap times and video footage. Lamborghini also introduced a similar system in 2020 with the Huracán STO. However, Telemetry X aims to take this concept to the next level.

One of its features, called Remote Garage, uses a 5G connection to stream video and data from the car. This allows drivers to receive live feedback from a coach who doesn’t need to be in the car or even at the same location. The system combines car data with biometric sensors that monitor heart rate and stress levels to find areas for improvement beyond just driving techniques.

Telemetry X also has a “digital co-pilot” voice assistant. This assistant can analyze both vehicle and biometric data to provide real-time advice on things like where to brake or which line to take through a corner. It can also offer updates on vehicle performance.

Lamborghini tested Telemetry X on their new flagship plug-in hybrid supercar, the Revuelto. So, we might see this feature available for that model in the future. Lamborghini could also use this technology to add an extra wow factor to its first electric vehicle, previewed by the Lanzador concept shown in 2023. Stay tuned for more updates.
