Only a week remains until Tesla starts delivering the first Cybertrucks to customers. To build excitement, the automaker has already started publicly displaying the vehicle ahead of its launch.
For instance, one Cybertruck was recently seen outside Lincoln Center in New York City, and another one made an appearance at Tesla’s store in the Westfield UTC Mall in San Diego.
A special event at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, is scheduled for Thursday, November 30, where the first Cybertrucks will be handed over to customers. Tesla CEO Elon Musk is expected to lead the event, which will be live-streamed. If it’s anything like Tesla’s previous events, such as the opening of their first car factory in Europe or the delivery of the first Tesla Semi trucks, we can anticipate a well-coordinated launch with a party-like atmosphere. There’s even a chance Musk might add some of his signature dance moves to the celebration.
Tesla first revealed the completely electric Cybertruck four years ago, but it has taken longer than expected to start production. Even though the first Cybertrucks are just days away from being delivered, Musk recently mentioned that full production capacity likely won’t be reached until 2025. This means the majority of the roughly 2 million people who’ve paid a $100 deposit will still have to wait a while before receiving their vehicle.
Despite the significant interest in the Cybertruck’s unique design, Musk stated two years ago that there was a possibility it might not succeed because it’s “so unlike anything else.” However, he has been more optimistic recently, suggesting this summer that the Cybertruck could be “our best product ever.”
Tesla’s latest vehicle will come in three versions: an entry-level rear-wheel-drive model, a midrange model, and a top-tier triple-motor model. Initially, the prices were set at $39,000, $49,000, and $69,000, respectively. However, in October 2021, Tesla removed the pricing information from its website, leading many to speculate that the final prices might be higher. We’ll find out more details next week.
